Writing Boot Camp Conference

One of my best friends, Jeanette, attended the Serious Writers Boot Camp Conference with me in Nashville this past weekend. Oh my goodness! It was amazing! We had the best time catching up on the way there and back, brainstorming and making plans for our writing projects, meeting new friends and fellow authors, and learning more about the writing and publishing biz from editors, publishers, and agents.

The conference was at Abingdon Press, which is a small Nashville publishing company with an absolutely beautiful campus. The building was built several years ago as an indoor/outdoor mall with gorgeous water features, tall windows, and a very open, airy feel. We were blessed with some amazing views of the surrounding lake while we learned about marketing trends in the publishing world and (of course) browsed the bookstore for new treasures.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect at this conference. I’ve attended a couple of conferences in the past, but this was my first time at a Serious Writers conference. I came in expecting to learn some tricks of the trade, but I was blown away by the practical advice and approachable presenters. I loved how everyone seemed so friendly and genuinely eager to help one another, and it was really fun to make connections with authors who are in the same phase of their writing journey as me.

The best part of the conference was finding a sense of direction and making some plans for my next steps. I was excited to leave with some practical takeaways that I can implement right away.

Writing conferences are a fun way to get inspired, learn more about the craft, and get advice about the business side of the writing world. I will definitely make plans to attend more in the future!

Happy reading! 🙂
