Yesterday morning, my husband glanced at the front page headline of our local newspaper (“Sheriff’s Department Replacing Patrol Cars”) and joked that it must be a slow news week. The irony was not lost on me when I was contacted later that same afternoon by a newspaper reporter who wanted to interview me about my novel. 😂
I did an interview with the Messenger-Inquirer a few weeks ago about Waverly, but since my book signing at the public library is this weekend, they wanted to do an updated story about it.
I love talking about the writing process, the research involved in writing historical fiction, and the characters in the novel.
However, talking to a reporter is totally different.
I always worry that something will come out wrong, or that I’ll get my words mixed up without even realizing it. It’s a little scary, not knowing what the article is going to say until it’s already in print and released to 15,000+ subscribers.
Thankfully, the reporter, Jacob Mulliken, made me sound at least somewhat intelligent (that’s a joke – he totally did a great job!).
I tried to talk about some different aspects of the novel this time, so the interview wouldn’t just be a rehash of the first one. I hope it gives a little more insight into the book and what inspired it.
If you’d like to check out the full article, you can read it here.
If you can’t attend the book signing event but would still like a copy of Waverly, use the links above to order on Amazon, or contact me to request a signed copy.
Happy reading! 🙂
